If your first choice were not available would you consider a puppy of the opposite sex? Will your puppy be desexed or are you planning on breeeding this puppy? Are you currently on a waiting list for any other litters? Have you placed a deposit for a puppy in one of those litters? Are all family members ready to commit to adding a puppy to the family? Who will be the primary care giver for the puppy? Does anyone in the family have allergies? Do you have children/ if yes what are their ages? Within what time frame are you looking to add a puppy to your family? Are you expecting any lifestyle changes with in the next 12 months? EX. moving, new job, baby. Have you ever owned a Golden before? If yes, from whom did you aquire the dog from? What is your primary goal for getting a Golden? Ex. Family companion, Obedience, Conformation(show), Hunting/Fieldwork, Therapy work. All companion puppies are sold on AKC/UKC LIMITED registration with a mandatory spay/neuter requirement at 24 months. Can you adhere to these terms. Do you have a veterinarian? If so who? Are you willing to provide veterinary care to your puppy. Where will the puppy/dog spend most of it's time? Do you own any other pets? ie another dog (list age, breed & sex)cats, rabbits, birds etc Have you researched about our breed? Do you live in a house, apt, or other? If you rent do have permission to have a puppy? We require written proof from your landlord before the puppy is placed. Is your yard fenced and if so what type of fence? If no fence how will you provide security for the puppy while outside? What are your plans for the puppy when you are not home? Will someone be home during the day to be able to come home to let the puppy out to potty? Are you aware of the costs associated with keeping a dog? Have you ever crate trained a puppy? Do you agree to never let the puppy be tied/chained up outside as a means of confinement? If not please explain why? Do you understand that Goldens like to chew. Puppies have extremly sharp teeth. These teeth can even pierce or puncture skin. Proper training is needed to insure that your favorite things don't become the puppy/dogs favorite thing to chew on. Are you willing to take your puppy to socialization classes if available or to ensure proper training. Are you aware that having a puppy is like adding a toddler to your hosehold and is a 10-15 year commitment? Golden Retrievers are know for their beautiful flowing coats. This means that they shed and shed A LOT! Are you prepared to do all of the proper grooming and upkeep on a regular basis? Despite even the best breeding practices health problems do arise and may require surgery or extensive treatment. Are you willing to care for the puppy should you need to? Are you willing to feed quality dog food and listen to our recommendations? If due to unforseen circumstances you have to rehome your puppy/dog we require that puppy/dog be returned to us and or I be notified to assist with the placement of the puppy/dog. Do you agree to this. Goldens are highly social and loving dogs. They want to be with their family. We do not approve of the pupp/dog living outside. Do you agree to never make to pupp/dog live outside and to never be chained up outside as a means of confinement for long periods of time? Are you willing to abide by a contract that specifies matters regaurding registration, health, breeding, spay/neuter, and general care?
